Dear Band Director,

Drew’s Gift of Music is a 501(c)(3) Non-profit organization founded in 2011 with the simple mission to provide as many music resources as possible to young students who wish to learn to play an instrument. Since our founding, we have expanded from two to 60+ schools across Indiana and newly into Michigan. We are always looking to expand into new school districts. The number of students we are actively supporting is growing rapidly, and we currently support over 130 students from fifth graders to high school Seniors. Roughly 90% of our instruments are generously donated to us and all instruments are cleaned, refurbished, and stocked with all essential equipment so they are ready to pick up and play the moment they reach a student’s hands.

 

Our instruments are licensed to the students at no cost to them for the duration of their K-12 music education. After graduation, those instruments are returned to us and granted to the next student in need.

Our band directors are a critical part of our program. We look to you to identify students in need and connect them to us to provide them with what they need. Here’s how it works:

1. Register your school system with us via the “School Enrollment Form” linked below (if not already registered) and email it to us. Once we receive the enrollment form, we will send you a Welcome email with a passcode that is unique to your school system. This code will be used to access the “Instrument Request Form”.

2. The band director will present the student/family with an “Instrument Request Form” (linked below). Once completed, scan and email the completed form to us directly at drewsgiftofmusic@gmail.com.

3. We contact the family and band director to let them know if we have the instrument requested available. If we do not, they will be put on a waitlist until we can provide them with the instrument.

4. We arrange for the instrument to be handed over. Both the parent and student sign an Instrument License Agreement, and they go home with their instrument.

 

We are here to support your students and your music department. You decide what instrument the student will be applying to receive. We will not provide them with an instrument that you did not approve.

If a student with a licensed instrument is no longer interested in playing, we ask that the student leaves the instrument with you, the band director, and kindly ask that you contact us to pick it up. This will allow us to refurbish and restock the instrument so it can be placed in the hands of another student in need as quickly as possible.
